🔹 Ways to Backup Data to WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra

1. Using WD My Cloud Web Dashboard (Built-in Backups)

Open a browser and go to your EX2 Ultra dashboard:

👉 http://<NAS-IP> (example: http://192.168.1.100)

Log in with your admin account.

Go to Backup → Jobs.

Choose a backup type:

USB Backup – if you connect an external USB drive to the EX2 Ultra.

Remote Backup – backup to another My Cloud or a remote NAS.

Internal Backup – backup between different shares on the same device.

Set the source and destination folders, then schedule it.

2. Using WD SmartWare (Windows)

Download & install WD SmartWare (for Windows).

Your EX2 Ultra will appear as a backup destination.

Select which folders or drives you want backed up.

You can choose continuous or scheduled backup.

3. Using Time Machine (Mac)

Open System Preferences → Time Machine.

Select Backup Disk → pick your EX2 Ultra (it will show under network drives if SMB/AFP is enabled).

Enter NAS username/password.

Time Machine will automatically back up your Mac to it.

4. Manual File Copy (Cross-Platform)

Map the NAS as a network drive (Windows) or mount it (Mac/Linux).

Copy files manually to your preferred shared folder.

Good for one-time or selective backups.

5. Cloud & Sync Options

Use WD My Cloud Mobile/Desktop apps to upload files.

Enable Cloud Access to back up from remote locations.

Some third-party apps like GoodSync, Acronis True Image, or rsync can also be configured.

✅ Tips for Better Backups

Use RAID 1 on your EX2 Ultra if you want mirroring (data stored on both drives).

Always keep an off-site copy (cloud or external USB drive).

Schedule backups so you don’t forget.
